Q01
What does the fire risk assessment app record?
platform
The premises and the responsible persons who hold the duty, then fifteen sections — premises, scope and limitations; occupancy; use; construction; complexity; fire hazards; fire safety measures; fire safety strategy; emergency response; fire safety management; fire safety arrangements; the risk evaluation; the action plan; review; and the assessor’s declaration. Each judgement carries a finding and, where it falls short, an action and photographs.
Q02
Which standards does it follow — BS 9792 or PAS 79?
compliance
Both, chosen by the premises type rather than by hand. Blocks of flats, maisonettes, HMOs, student accommodation and specialised housing are assessed against BS 9792:2025, using its types 1 to 4. Non-domestic premises, including care homes and short-term lets, are assessed against PAS 79-1:2020. Mixed-use premises take both.
Q03
Does the software calculate the risk rating?
platform
No. Your risk matrix — 3×3 or 5×5, with your own labels and definitions — shows which rating a likelihood and a consequence produce. The assessor enters the final rating, and where it differs from the matrix the reason is recorded. The report prints the assessor’s rating beside the one the matrix gives. The ratings are categories, not scores.
Q04
Does it cover Scotland and Northern Ireland?
compliance
No. The Fire Safety Order does not extend there, so a premises in Scotland or Northern Ireland can be recorded but the software refuses to create an assessment for it. Premises in England and Wales are assessed, with the England-only duties hidden for a Welsh building.
Q05
Can an issued FRA report be edited?
platform
Not in place. Issuing locks the report, and there is no un-issue. A change is a revision — a new version that supersedes the issued one when it is itself issued — and the earlier version stays on the record as it was issued.
Q06
How do reviews work?
platform
The assessor sets the review date; nothing defaults to twelve months, because no statutory period exists for the assessment itself. Specified residential buildings in England also carry two annual statutory reviews, kept on separate clocks. A review carries forward the previous assessment’s outstanding actions, and cannot be issued until each one is carried, completed or marked not accepted.
Q07
Does fire risk assessment capture work offline?
platform
Yes. Answers and photographs queue on the device and sync when you reconnect. If the assessment was issued while you were offline, your queued work opens a new draft rather than overwriting what was issued. Creating a premises and issuing the report need a connection.
Q08
What can our clients see?
platform
A client with portal access sees their issued assessments — the scope, the limitations, the review dates and the action plan — and downloads the same PDF you hold. Drafts never appear, and portal users are never billed as seats.
Q09
Does it work with fire doors and fire stopping?
platform
On the same record. Fire risk assessment is a workspace on the same platform, switched from the top bar, sharing your clients, properties and team. A premises can be linked to a property you already hold, so the building’s fire doors, fire stopping and fire risk assessment sit side by side, and an action can be turned into a quote in the document builder.
Q10
How much does fire risk assessment software cost?
trial
On a Seat plan from £29/month it is included, with no usage metered on top. On the Usage plan it is £7 per assessment, charged once when that assessment’s first report is produced — re-downloading it costs nothing, and a review is a new assessment.

Q11
Do I need a card to start the trial?
trial
No card required. The trial lasts 7 days and includes the fire risk assessment workspace, alongside fire doors and fire stopping, with no feature restriction.
Q12
Is this a compliance guarantee?
compliance
No. Fire Door App records a fire risk assessment; it does not carry one out. It does not calculate a risk rating, certify premises, provide legal advice or guarantee regulatory compliance. The findings and ratings are the assessor’s professional judgement, and the report states its own scope and limitations.
