Your own report design, for the clients you choose.
Every client gets a clear report. Some want it to look like yours. Lay out your own report page by page, or start from a ready-made design, and give it to the clients you choose.
Section 01How to do it
-
01
Start from a ready-made design
Open Report templates and choose New template. Pick the report it is for, then Standard, Compact, Photo-led, Showcase — the design on this website — or a blank page.
-
02
Put your facts on the page
Drag a fact onto the page, or tick several and add them as a grid. Each one brings its heading, so the reader knows what it is. Set a box to fit its words, and a short answer leaves no gap while a long one is never cut.
-
03
Make it look like yours
Set your colours and fonts with text styles. Add your logo, a header and footer, and blocks like key figures or a sign-off.
-
04
Check it with a real job
Preview it with one of your own inspections. Before you publish, the designer lists anything that would print wrong.
-
05
Give it to your clients
Choose which clients print in it, one report type at a time. Their next report uses the new design.
Section 02What the app actually does here
- Design on a computer, on an A4 page that fills in with sample data as you build
- Drag facts onto the page — the address, the date, the result. Each brings its own heading, which you can rename, move or turn off
- Tick several facts at once and add them as a grid, lined up in one to four columns
- Ready-made blocks: a header band, a footer, key figures, a details grid, a sign-off and more
- Save your own blocks and use them again in any template of that report
- Give boxes a text style, then change the style once to change every box that uses it
- One header and footer prints on every page, and can be switched off for a cover
- A page can print once, or once for every door or item, in report order
- Check it with one of your own jobs before you publish, and see what would print wrong
- Nothing changes until you publish. A report already made keeps the version it was made with
Section 03What goes wrong
Every one of these has cost somebody real time. They are cheap to avoid and expensive to unwind.
A reader cannot tell a reference from a date. Keep the heading on, or the check before Publish will point it out.
Ten copies means ten changes later. Move it to the header and footer instead, so one change shows everywhere.
It will not. A report keeps the version it was made in, so what a client already has never changes.
