Custom forms, your own checklist for each kind of door.
Not every door is a flat entrance door. Custom forms give each kind of door or item its own checklist. Pick which checks it gets, add your own, or start from a ready-made form.
Section 01How to do it
-
01
Start from a ready-made form, or the standard one
Open Settings → Capture forms. Pick a ready-made form close to the kind of door, or build your own from the standard checks.
-
02
Choose the checks
Tick the checks this kind of door gets, and clear the ones it does not. A metal riser door does not need the same checklist as a flat entrance door.
-
03
Add checks and questions of your own
Add a check the standard list does not cover, or a question you need answered on site. Give each new check its failure reasons, so the inspector can fail it properly.
-
04
Link it to door types
Link the form to the door types it is for. Doors of that type then get it by themselves, and the inspector can still switch on site.
-
05
Price your new checks
Each check you add gets its own fix on the Pricing page. Set its materials and labour, so a failure on it prices itself into the quote.
-
06
Set the form before the visit
On a door list, use Bulk edit to give listed doors their form, or add a Capture form column to the schedule you import. Doors already inspected keep theirs.
Section 02What the app actually does here
- Build forms in Settings → Capture forms, in the fire doors and fire stopping workspaces
- Choose which checks a kind of door gets, and add checks and questions of your own
- Link a form to door types, so the right checklist comes up by itself
- Ready-made fire door forms: metal riser door, fire exit door, access-controlled door, flat entrance door, fire shutter or curtain, and access panel or hatch
- Ready-made fire stopping forms: riser floor seal, plastic pipe collar, head-of-wall joint, slab-edge barrier and roof-void cavity barrier
- A check you add gets its own fix on the Pricing page
- A new check is flagged until it has failure reasons. Until then an inspector can only fail it as Other
- For fire stopping, choose the fields each kind of item asks for, and add item types of your own
- Fire stopping checks of your own are answered Pass, Fail or N/A. An item with a failed check cannot be saved as a Pass
- The surveyor can choose the form on site, beside Type. It follows the item type until they change it
- Give listed doors their form before the visit, with Bulk edit or a Capture form column in the schedule import
- A door keeps the form it was inspected on. Changing a form later never changes a door already recorded
Section 03What goes wrong
Every one of these has cost somebody real time. They are cheap to avoid and expensive to unwind.
The inspector can only fail it as Other, and it stays flagged until you add reasons. Add them when you add the check.
A checklist that asks about everything trains people to skim it. A smaller form for each kind of door gets read.
It will not. A door keeps the form it was inspected on, so past reports stay exactly as they were.
