Where your door codes come from, and the format used when printing labels for them.

Where your codes come from

Choosing your own codes hides the buttons that generate a code and print a label, everywhere in the app. Nothing already tagged is affected. Your own stickers are read by the scanner inside the app only: a client pointing their phone camera at one will not reach the door’s record.

FireDoorApp codes Default The app generates a unique code for each door and you print the labels from it. Nothing to buy and nothing to keep track of. Most workspaces, and anyone starting from scratch. Our own codes You supply the codes — printed stickers, an asset-tag scheme, anything scannable. The app stops generating codes and stops offering to print labels, and a door is tagged by scanning or typing the code already on it. Workspaces that already label their doors, or whose client does.

Default label type Each label is generated as a single image, so it can be saved to the device and opened in a label printer app.

The code source applies straight away. The label format is used the next time you print.

When an inspector fails a part of a door, the quote uses that part's fix. Every price is materials plus labour.

Replaced doors

Capture layout

How the capture screen is arranged on phones and tablets. Everyone in this workspace uses the same one.

On site

Both record exactly the same information and save to the same place. They differ only in how much of the door you see at once.

Guided Default One question per screen, with a progress bar and a line telling you what is still outstanding. New starters, training, and unfamiliar sites. Sheet The whole job on one scrolling page, with the verdict controls on every row. There is no Next button. Experienced surveyors, tablets, and sites you know well.

Camera on Android

Android phones and tablets only. It has no effect on iPhone or iPad, which always use their normal camera.

Phone camera app Default Tapping a photo opens your phone's own camera app, then returns to FireDoorApp with the picture. Keeps your phone's camera features, such as the wide lens and night mode. In-app camera The camera opens inside FireDoorApp, so the app never goes into the background while you take a photo. Android phones where FireDoorApp restarts, or loses the photo, after using the camera.

Applies the next time a device loads an inspection. Anyone working offline keeps their current layout until they are back on signal, so nothing changes mid-door.

Applies to documents created from now on. A report or document already stored keeps the design it was made in.
