Step 1 · Quote setup

Door type

Door Type

Pick the construction family. Timber covers internal sets; Composite is GRP-skinned for external/flat entrances; Steel covers fire exits and high-risk doors; Fully-glazed is for office screens.

Step 1 · Quote setup

Dimensions

Dimensions

Enter the required quantity, width, and height.

Standard Size

Pre-fill the leaf dimensions from a UK standard. Picking Custom keeps the width and height free-text so you can enter bespoke values.

Step 1 · Quote setup

Notes

Step 2 · Core specification

Fire rating & leaf

Fire Rating

FD30/FD60 cover most internal fire compartmentation. The S suffix adds cold-smoke protection (required for many flat entrances). FD90 and FD120 are typically steel for high-risk areas. Choose N/A when no new leaf is being supplied.

Single or Double Door

Choose between single, double, or No New Leaf when the quote line does not include a new supplied leaf.

Step 2 · Core specification

Swing & hinge

Hinge Side

Viewed from the push side.

Swing Direction

Which way the leaf opens when pushed from the push side. Inward is typical for internal residential sets; outward is required for fire exits and some commercial layouts.

Step 2 · Core specification

Frame & construction

Include Frame?

Bundle a certified frame with matching stops and seals. In No New Leaf mode this becomes Frame only or No frame.

Frame Material

Construction material of the frame assembly. Softwood is the FD30 residential default; hardwood upgrades to oak/mahogany; oak-faced gives a hardwood look over a cheaper substrate; steel matches steel door sets; UPVC-clad pairs with composite external entrances.

Frame Profile

How the door stop is formed. Rebated cuts the stop into the frame in one piece (stronger). Planted stop is a separate strip fixed to the jamb. Split profile has the frame assembled in two halves — used for very thick walls.

Door Core

Core construction of the leaf. Flaxboard is the common FD30 default; chipboard is the FD60 heavy-duty core; solid lamin is a timber-block laminated core for acoustic-rated sets.

Leaf Thickness

Auto picks 44mm for FD30 leaves and 54mm for FD60. Override when a specific manufacturer thickness is required.

Leaf Lippings

Hardwood edge strips applied to the leaf. Vertical-edge lippings protect the hinge and latch stiles; all-four-edges adds top and bottom protection (required by some manufacturer specs on FD60).

Step 3 · Finishes & glazing

Finish & seals

Door Finish

Factory prep or veneer options for the leaf.

GRP Colour

External GRP skin colour for composite doors. Standard palette covers the most common Solidor / Rockdoor / Endurance ranges. Select Custom RAL to match a specific code.

Steel Finish

Galvanised is corrosion-resistant mill finish; powder coat supplies a full RAL colour match.

Architrave Style

Finish the frame with a profile that matches the surrounding joinery.

Intumescent Seals

Intumescent seals expand under heat to block flames. Brush, fin and acoustic variants add cold-smoke protection (required for FD30S / FD60S flat entrances). Surface-mounted seals suit retrofit where the frame cannot be routed.

Step 3 · Finishes & glazing

Vision panel

Glazing

Vision panel layouts with certified glass and beading. Choose N/A when no new leaf is being supplied.

Glass Type

Fire-rated glass brand. Pyroshield is wired glass (traditional, integrity-only). Pyrostop and Pyrobel are laminated insulating glass. Pyroguard covers a range of tested products. Generic Certifire covers any other certified product.

Glass Classification

BS EN 13501-2 classification. E = integrity only (flames blocked). EW = integrity + limited radiation. EI = integrity + insulation (no heat transfer, safest for escape routes).

Bead Material

The bead is the trim securing the glass pane. Hardwood is the standard FD30 timber default; softwood is lighter and cheaper; steel/aluminium beads suit commercial/steel door sets and match industrial finishes.

Step 3 · Finishes & glazing

Decorative & adjacent

Georgian Bars

Decorative overlay bars applied to the glazing face. Two-bar gives a vertical split; Cross adds a horizontal; Full Georgian is a 3×3 grid for heritage sets.

Manifestation

Visible markings applied to the glass face. Required under Approved Document M for DDA compliance wherever a vision panel may be mistaken for an opening. DDA dots are the standard two-row dot pattern; Custom film allows branded or decorative manifestation.

External Glass Finish

Decorative glass finish for composite external doors with a vision panel. Obscure and sandblasted provide privacy; leaded and stained are heritage/period patterns.

Glazed Overpanel

Fire-rated glazed panel above the door frame (FD-rated screen). Typical office spec; height is measured from the top of the frame up. Uses the same glass spec as the main vision panel.

Glazed Sidelight

Fire-rated glazed panel adjacent to the door frame. Used with office screens and entrance suites. "Both" gives symmetrical panels on either side of the door.

Step 4 · Hardware

Lockset

Handles & Lock

Certified lockset (handle + lockcase). Pick the latchset that matches the door role — sashlock/nightlatch for entrances, bathroom for privacy sets, escape for fire-exit routes.

Hinges

Fire doors must use CE-marked, intumescent-padded hinges. A standard pair covers lightweight leaves; 3 hinges are the UK default for FD30 single sets; heavy FD60 leaves need 4.

Euro Cylinder

Euro-profile cylinder for the lockcase. BS 3621 is the insurance-rated benchmark; TS007 3★ resists cylinder snapping (required with multi-point locks on composite doors).

Multi-Point Lock

Multi-point locks engage at multiple points on the frame. Typical for composite flat entrances.

Step 4 · Hardware

Closing & retain

Closer

Keep the door self-closing to maintain compartmentation.

Closer Detail

EN 1154 power size sets the closing force (2 = light, 5 = heavy). Concealed, free-swing and delayed-action variants suit specific environments — concealed hides the closer inside the leaf/frame; free-swing releases on alarm; delayed-action slows the last arc for accessibility.

Fire Door Retainer

Hold-open devices release on alarm activation.

Retainer Product

Dorgard is a wireless acoustic listener (battery-powered). Agrippa links to the fire alarm via radio. Hard-wired magnetic holders connect to the alarm and hold heavy leaves open reliably.

Step 4 · Hardware

Fire exit

Panic / Push Bar Hardware

Fire exit hardware rated to BS EN 1125 (panic) or BS EN 179 (emergency).

Louvre Panel

Ventilation louvre for plant rooms and risers. Louvres cap the fire rating at FD120.

Mesh Reinforcement

Internal anti-vandal mesh for steel doors exposed to tampering.

Step 4 · Hardware

Accessories

Door Viewer

Fire-rated peephole for added security. Wide-angle and digital variants give better sightlines and accessibility.

Letterbox

Certified letterboxes prevent smoke spread. Standard intumescent is the residential default; telescopic sleeves suit thicker leaves; anti-arson cowls add a fire-resistant baffle for high-risk entrances (HMOs, communal lobbies).

Pull Handle

Add a pull handle for manual opening.

Kick Plates

Protect the lower leaf from trolleys and traffic.

Push Plate

Plate fixed to the push side of the leaf to protect the finish from hand wear. Stainless is the commercial default; brass and SAA suit period or boutique fit-outs.

Finger Guard

Hinge-side strip preventing finger trap injuries. Required by some duty-of-care regimes (schools, nurseries, care homes). Fingersafe and Safehinge are the two leading UK brands.

Door Restrictor

Limits how far the leaf can swing open. Chain restrictor is for residential entrance security; arm (concealed) restrictor is the commercial wall-protection standard.

Numeral Plate

Door number plate (commonly required on flat entrance sets). Stainless is the standard finish; specify the digit on the order form.

Step 4 · Hardware

Compliance

Threshold

Upgrade for acoustic/weather performance.

Signage

Apply mandatory fire door signage for compliance.

Weather / Security Rating

PAS 24 is the UK standard for enhanced resistance against forced entry and is required for Part Q compliance on new dwellings. Part Q (without PAS 24) covers weather-tightness and thermal performance only — typical for replacement composite sets on existing homes.

Certification Scheme

Third-party certification to accompany the door set. Certifire is the most widely specified UK scheme; BWF-Certifire covers timber sets; BM TRADA Q-Mark is common for timber and composite; BSI Kitemark applies to tested steel.

Step 5 · Site & service

Install & survey

Installation Service

Book our certified team to install on site.

Site Survey

Pre-install measure-and-check by our certified surveyor. Included = no extra charge (rolled into install); Separate = priced as its own line for supply-only quotes.

Step 5 · Site & service

On-site work

Removal & Disposal

Take-away service for the existing door set. Single covers one leaf only; Pair covers a double; Frame included covers leaf + frame for a full set replacement.

Making Good

Post-install reinstatement of the surrounding wall. Basic plaster patches the rebate area; plaster + decoration includes filler, sanding and matched paint.

Delivery Zone

Surcharge for restricted delivery areas. ULEZ and Congestion Zone are London-specific; Remote covers Highlands, islands, and other long-distance drops.

Step 5 · Site & service

Aftercare

Warranty

Extended warranty cover beyond the standard 12-month period. Recommended for HMOs and high-occupancy installs where leaves see heavy use.

Inspection Plan

Recurring fire-door inspection plan after install. Annual is the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 minimum for non-flat sets; quarterly is required for high-rise residential per Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. Plans link to your live workspace for evidence capture and certificates.
